John Matze is really in a need for donations to pay legal fees.

After President Trump was banned from Twitter, many conservatives migrated to alternatives like Parler. But later Parler was taken off from Amazon Web Services due to "hate speech and planning of the Capitol attack." So the platform went offline. Then John Matze seems to have proposed light lines to "preclude content that is inciting violence and acts of domestic terrorism", while preserving the "right of free expression for all points of view". But this was not accepted.

Due supposedly to this, John Matze (founder and then-CEO of Parler) was terminated by the board in January 29, 2021. In late March, Matze sues Parler over "arrogant theft" by Rebekah Mercer by ousting him out of the company and stealing his 40% stake share.

It is important to note that Rebekah Mercer's history is not good, as her family was part-owner of the controversial Cambridge Analytica (involved in a data mining scandal with Facebook). Her family now largely owns Emerdata Limited, one of the successor firms of Cambridge.

Now the news is that John Matze joined Gab yesterday April 1st.

And his second status was this:

Of course, his coming on Gab wasn't welcomed by many for his policies before being thrown out, his little rift with Trump having a share in Parler, and his "jokes" of QAnon.

Andrew Torba (CEO of Gab), for his part, welcomed Matze into the platform.

And why is this information important? Notice that the ex-CEO of Parler runs to Gab after a few years of stiff competition between the 2. This signals a win of terrain for Gab, but also as a signal of unity between conservatives, although with some resentments.

It also signals that Gab is not a neo-nazi platform, but is a free speech platform open to everyone, even to former competitors.
